He is a very military-friendly Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) and a former Navy flight surgeon with a strong passion for aviation. Dr. Carwell’s background and understanding of military aviation make him an excellent choice for service members and veterans.
His staff was also very accommodating, professional, and helpful throughout the process. Many of my peers who fly out of NAS Oceana go to Dr. Carwell for their First Class Medical exams. I even know several pilots who continue to commute back to Virginia Beach for appointments with Dr. Carwell after moving away.
